When the downtown Dallas landmark was reimagined as a health facility, the Chase Tower Fitness Center called for innovative design techniques. Staffelbach artfully created an environment where interior architecture and structure engage in harmonious dialogue and demonstrate exemplary energy efficiency. The custom lighting references the strong angles of the property, playfully cascading from the center, adding interest to the interior while visually engaging pedestrian traffic. The main rotunda has a full perimeter of glazing set back under the buildings overhang and balcony allowing the large expanses of glass to provide diffused natural daylight into the space.
Staffelbach introduced LED lighting elements that create both supplemental lighting for overcast days or night use and playful elements with the programmed color changing LED elements falling through the multi-story height space. All lighting is low wattage, LED specifically chosen for long hours of operation, energy efficiency and minimal maintenance. In the subterranean area below the rotunda, Staffelbach refashioned the expansive space into an upscale spa and locker room facility for the building’s tenants.
