Staffelbach planned and designed the 9,500 square foot Admirals Club in San Francisco‘s (SFO) new Terminal 2. Built with sustainability in mind, the SFO Admirals Club received the prestigious LEED Silver certification, making it the first LEED silver-registered lounge. The space presented several challenges to designers, due to the restraints of shape, structural columns and utilities running throughout, but the team was able to create a unique design with special features while remaining within budget.
A lobby area reminiscent of a luxury hotel, illuminated bar top, faux skylight, fireplace and a “Golden Gate Park” area complete with three handcrafted artificial Monterey Pine trees give the lounge a vastly different feel. Thoughtful amenities like plentiful power outlets, vast lounge areas, a business center, VIP lounge, bar areas and spa-like showers are generously integrated into the space.
